State of equilibrium flow
It is based on a theory (by Dupuit) constructed on the hypotheses which tend to simplify phenomenology. Out low in equilibrium-state or steady-state flow conditions (flow changes only occur in space and not in time) is obtained when feeding exactly compensates for the outflow.
State of Non-Equilibrium flow
Outflow in a state of non-equilibrium flow or in transient-state flow is a theory expounded by Theis, who considers the occurrence of flow changes both in space and time. According to this theory, the surface of piezometric depression around a well with a constant flow does not tend to a stable form, but it spreads indefinitely at decreasing speed.
Testing stations are made up of a well, called a pilot, and one or more piezometers which must be placed within the radius of action of the well. W.T.A. allows considering the water flow both in steady-state and transient-state flow conditions.
