Description

The Subsurface Structure Software – Scatolarii follows and complies with Eurocode 2/7/8.

In order to be able to model the non-linearity of the ground (cancellation of Winkler reactions due to displacements of the foundation and footings that result in the detachment between the ground and the structure) the entire subsurface structure is discretized into rods of small lengths.

The soil in which the subsurface structure is immersed is divided into three layers:

    • overburden directly on the traverse;
    • backfill to the left and right of the two piers;
    • of foundation.

By assuming zero overburden and traverse thickness, it is possible to analyze types of buried (and non-buried) tanks and reservoirs for which the assumption of a plane state of deformation is valid.

A water flap with variable depth is provided.

It is possible to assign a water head of any height inside the subsurface structure.

Loads are assigned for different loading conditions (up to nine) to be merged by means of combination factors chosen by the user according to the type of check associated with the individual combination to be generated:

    • non-seismic strength combination by the ultimate limit state method operating combination;
    • seismic combinations with verifications at the limit state of the first platinization.

In the calculation of operating combinations, the three types of environmental conditions are provided for in Tab.4.I. III of the NTC 2008 shall be chosen:

    1. ordinary;
    2. aggressive;
    3. very aggressive.

The following types of loads are provided for assignment in an interactive mode:

  • concentrated and/or evenly distributed loads;
  • concentrated loads applied to the foundation beam;
  • distributed loads and/or thermal variations;
  • concentrated loads and torques;
  • the static or seismic thrust of the backfill soil
  • hydraulic head

The various calculation options also include the possibility of modelling the passive reaction of the backfill soil by assigning Winkler’s coefficient to the backfill soil with an active value only for displacements of the wall directed against the soil.

In order to be able to model the non-linearity of the soil, the entire subsurface structure is discretized into short-length rods. In the nodes of the rods thus generated, the unidirectional elastic reactions of the soil are concentrated. Rigid rods are also introduced at the structural nodes in order to make the strength model of the subsurface structure closer to its real behaviour and to exclude these rigid rods from the pressure bending and shear checks performed instead for all remaining deformable rods.

It is possible to get a complete calculation report printed, directly to the printer, than to files in DOC format.

It can be transferred to graphic files in DXF format (drawing interchange format recognized by all CAD programs). Among other things, it is possible to obtain a drawing table, also in DXF format, complete with carpentry and reinforcement, with the detail of the exploded and regularly dimensioned irons.
