Sheet pile wall design – SPW

Sheet walls are relatively thin, vertical structures, embedded in terrain to a depth sufficient to support an uphill embankment/downhill excavation thrust, including water and surcharges.
This type of structure can be constructed of driven prefabricated steel pile sections, adjacent, bored cylindrical piles, and reinforced concrete sheet elements usually produced on site.

The methods used for analysis / verification are: Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) and Finite Elements Method (FEM).

The methods mentioned are of increasing complexity from both the numerical point of view and for the amount of geotechnical parameters necessary for the calculation.

  • Calculation of the anchors string courses with a new finite element method
  • Filtration analysis using the finite differences method for each phase of construction
  • Reinforcement of the sections per combination and per phase

COMPUTATION:

  • Computation using Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) and Finite Element Method (FEM) and also nonlinear analysis

  • Computation of tensions in the subsoil, induced by external loads, using the method of Boussinesq
  • Analysis of the bulkhead during the excavation phase
  • Semiproject of sections at ultimate limit state, also for mixed sections

Global stability analysis:

  • Plotting of flow grid usind finite differences method

VERSION 2016

  • Modified computation algorithm for continuous beam.
  • Implemented the possibility to manage diagrams texts.
  • FEM method - anchors arranged on multiple rows: improved the drawing function of anchors structural carpentry.
  • Improvements in user interface and computatin report.
  • Import of topographic section from DXF files, TriSpace files and text files.
  • Vertical limit load as a funztion of a correlation factor for the investigated verticals.
  • Vertical limit load for rectangular sections.
  • Dynamic information for the bulkhead. You just have to move with the mouse on the head of the bulkhead to get information about: geometry, section composition, section type.
  • Improvement connection beam module.
  • New way to draw the connection beam.
