Easy Refract + Tomo:
seismic tomography
from your first arrivals
Watch the video (2 minutes, in Italian): from first arrivals to the velocity section, with rays and classes.
Dear ,
Easy Refract + Tomo is now available: the new edition of the program you use for seismic refraction. It includes all of Easy Refract and adds seismic refraction tomography: from the same first arrivals it builds a continuous velocity section, cell by cell, instead of a layered model.
Nothing new has to be entered: spread geometry, geophone elevations and first arrivals are the ones already in your projects. Archived surveys can be reprocessed too.

What you see beyond the GRM
The GRM describes the ground as layers, with constant velocity in each layer. Tomography shows what a layered model cannot represent: bedrock troughs, lenses, weathered or fractured zones, gradual velocity increases with depth.
The two methods complement each other: the GRM refractors are overlaid on the tomographic section, so you see at once where the two readings agree and where the ground departs from the layered model.

What the Seismic tomography tab offers
Vp section on topography — the grid follows the ground profile; cell size and depth set automatically or by hand. |
Robust computation — travel times with the Fast Marching method, least-squares inversion with a smoothness constraint, stopping at the picking error so the model is not fitted to noise. |
Rays and coverage — ray paths show where the section is reliable; ray-free zones can be hidden. |
Velocity classes — to read the section by zones (cover, dense deposits, weathered rock, bedrock), with editable descriptions and colours. |
Exports and report — image, XYZ grid for Surfer and spreadsheets, layered DXF, and a dedicated chapter in the calculation report. |
Published validation — the computation was compared with exact solutions, a reference model from the literature and a commercial program: the dossier is public. |
