DReW Seismic is not like other software!

The calculation of permanent displacements of embedded cantilever retaining walls due to earthquakes is explicitly required by many national standards as well as Eurocodes 7-8.
All the available commercial software perform the calculation using a pseudo-static approach, where the earthquake is synthesized through an equivalent static force function of the horizontal seismic coefficient kh. However, simplifying a dynamic action, such as an earthquake, with a simple constant coefficient is not the most realistic solution. The problem could be tackled by means of complex numerical techniques which, however, are unsuitable for practical applications, as they are very expensive from a computational point of view and require a large number of constitutive parameters of difficult determination.

In this context DReW Seismic comes into play, which makes it possible to predict the permanent displacements of embedded cantilever retaining walls due to earthquakes by solving the equation of motion of the structure, subjected to an appropriate distribution of contact stresses resulting from a given acceleration time-history. In particular, the method calculates the wall displacements when the ground acceleration exceeds a threshold value, which is not kept constant but is updated during the earthquake.

The calculation method employed, which is simple to use and requires a limited number of input parameters, has been recently published in the journal "Géotechnique," the most prestigious among geotechnical journals.
To give you an idea, this is the same journal where the methods by Newmark and Morgenstern & Price were published, just to mention some. The method has also been validated through its application to several case studies well-documented in the literature, referring to which the obtained results were always in good agreement with what actually observed.
