However, a more rational approach assesses the structure&#8217;s performance in terms of accumulated permanent displacement. Indeed, this approach is required by many national standards as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phd.eng.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/en.1998.5.2004.pdf\">Eurocode 8 Part 5<\/a> (\u00a77.1(1)P; \u00a77.1(2)). In this context, <strong>DReW Seismic<\/strong> allows predicting the earthquake-induced permanent displacements of embedded cantilever retaining walls (diaphragms and sheet-pile walls). <strong>DReW<\/strong> <strong>Seismic<\/strong> is developed based on the method recently published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icevirtuallibrary.com\/doi\/10.1680\/jgeot.21.00221\">Conte, Pugliese and Troncone (2022)<\/a> in the journal G\u00e9otechnique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>GENERAL FEATURES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The main features of the software are listed below:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>The redistribution of the soil pressure on the wall as a function of the wall displacement is accounted for, as required by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ngm2016.com\/uploads\/2\/1\/7\/9\/21790806\/eurocode_7_-_geotechnical_designen.1997.1.2004.pdf\">Eurocode 7 Part 1<\/a> at \u00a79.7.1(5)<\/li>\n<li>Different typology of structures: diaphragm and sheet-pile walls<\/li>\n<li>Cohesionless soil<\/li>\n<li>Layered soil<\/li>\n<li>Presence of surcharge<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">For the sake of completeness, a pseudo-static analysis can also be performed. This latter refers to the method developed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icevirtuallibrary.com\/doi\/10.1680\/jgeot.16.P.201\">Conte, Troncone and Vena (2017)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>REQUIRED INPUT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>DReW Seismic<\/strong> is very easy to be used and requires a limited number of input parameters. In particular, the following data is required:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Excavation height;<\/li>\n<li>Embedment depth;<\/li>\n<li>Soil unit weight;<\/li>\n<li>The angle of shearing resistance;<\/li>\n<li>Friction angle at the soil-wall interface;<\/li>\n<li>Unit weight of the wall;<\/li>\n<li>Wall thickness (in case of diaphragm wall);<\/li>\n<li>Pile diameter and spacing between piles (in case of sheet-pile wall);<\/li>\n<li>Surcharge intensity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Moreover, since a seismic analysis is performed, an acceleration time history representative of the wall-soil system is required. A database of earthquakes recorded in different parts of the world is available on this <a href=\"https:\/\/esm-db.eu\/#\/event\/search\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">If a pseudo-static analysis is performed, the horizontal and vertical seismic coefficients, k<sub>h<\/sub> and k<sub>v<\/sub>, are required.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>OUTPUT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>DReW Seismic<\/strong> provides the outputs listed below when a seismic analysis is performed:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>displacement time-history owing to a given earthquake.
