Pressiometric & penetrometric method – PQL

199.00 exc. IVA

Design resistance of shallow foundations according to Eurocode 7 NF P94-261. PLQ allows calculating the design resistance of shallow foundations from Menard-type pressiometric tests and static penetrometric tests.

The Menard-type pressiometric test involves introducing a cylindrical probe into the borehole and expanding it radially against the walls of the borehole, measuring the resulting volumetric deformation of the soil. The test is performed under load control by measuring the volumetric deformation corresponding to each load increment.

The static penetrometric test involves pressing a conical tip with sensors into the soil, connected to a data acquisition system.

Pressiometric Method The pressiometric tests (PMT) are loading tests carried out by installing a dilatable cylindrical probe at a given depth in the soil, gradually expanding it and measuring pressures and deformations simultaneously. The net ultimate bearing capacity is determined by the following formula:

Qnet=Kppleiβ*iδ

Where:

kp: pressiometric bearing factor; ple*: equivalent net ultimate pressure; iδ: load inclination reduction coefficient; iβ: slope inclination reduction coefficient.

Static Penetrometer Method The static penetrometer method uses the values of resistance at the tip of a static penetrometer. The net ultimate bearing capacity is determined by the following formula:

Qnet=Kcqceiβ*iδ

Where:

kp: penetrometer bearing factor; qce: equivalent tip resistance; iδ: load inclination reduction coefficient; iβ: slope inclination reduction coefficient.

For both methods, the design resistance follows the guidelines of Eurocode 7 (NF P94-261).
